Common questions.
- How does Sterling work?
- You request a free consultation. One of us comes to meet you and your pet in person to learn the routine and what your pet needs. Then we match your pet with the right vetted sitter, and your sitter sends photos and an update every visit.
- Do I meet my sitter before the stay?
- The first in-person meeting is with us, so we can learn your pet's routine without a rushed handoff. You get your matched sitter's profile and a quick intro before the stay. Want to meet your assigned sitter in person too? You can add a pre-stay meet and greet for $40, up to 30 minutes.
- What's the difference between visits and house sitting?
- With drop-in visits, a vetted sitter comes to your home for feeding, walks, medication, and company, then leaves between check-ins. With house sitting, the sitter stays overnight so your pet is never alone. Visits work when your pet is fine on its own between check-ins. House sitting works when your pet needs someone there overnight, or gets anxious alone. Not sure? Tell us about your pet and we'll recommend the right one.
- How many visits a day do I need?
- Most cats do fine on one. Most dogs need two or three. We'll give you an honest answer, not an upsell.
- Will it be the same person each time?
- For standing schedules, yes. For one-off bookings we match you with the right available sitter.
- Are your sitters insured and background-checked?
- Yes. Sterling is licensed, insured, and bonded, and every sitter clears a criminal background check before they ever meet a pet. Many of our sitters are vet techs or animal professionals.
- Can you give my pet medication?
- Yes. For routine medication, your sitter follows your schedule exactly. For higher needs like insulin, injections, or post-surgery monitoring, ask about specialized care, which pairs you with a vet-tech-trained sitter.
- Do you take pets with a history of aggression?
- For the safety of our sitters and your pet, we do not take on pets with a history of biting or aggression toward people.
- How much does it cost?
- Drop-in visits start at $45 for 30 minutes and house sitting starts at $155 a night. Your exact rate depends on your pet, how often you book, and any specialized care you add. We walk you through all of it in your free consultation. No hidden fees.
- What's included at no extra charge?
- Your consultation, your sitter's profile and a quick intro, photo updates, and home tasks like mail, plants, and lights during house sitting are all included.
- What areas do you serve?
- We serve the Denver Metro area, including Cherry Creek, Greenwood Village, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, and nearby communities. Not sure if you're in range? Just ask.
- What happens in an emergency?
- Your sitter acts on the plan we set up with you, gets your pet to a vet fast, and contacts you right away. You are never left wondering.
- How often will I hear about my pet?
- You get photos and an update every visit, so you always know your pet is safe, fed, and content.
